This evening’s longer range forecast track for Matthew has shifted slightly to the west and has caused a great deal of consternation as the center is now forecast to track right along the US East Coast from mid-FL to HAT.

As noted earlier, there is certainly a risk of landfall in the SE US but this event is dependent on larger scale weather features for which we do not yet have a consensus from the forecast models.
For the Bahamas, the slight westward shift in the shorter range forecast is dire news when coupled with the expected steady strength of Matthew through Wednesday. It appears the entire island chain will be raked by a major hurricane.
I will update mid-morning tomorrow.
