Newburyport mayor responds.

Mayor Donna Holaday: It is unfortunate that Mr. Sargent did not do his homework on this one. The problem with the sewer system failure had nothing to do with the Atlantic Ocean and infiltration. The valve hubs froze shutting down the vacuum in both lines running down Northern Blvd. these hubs should not have been installed in roads exposed to frigid temperatures

Bill Sargent I actually did my homework pretty thoroughly. While it is true the valves froze this was not the ultimate cause.
